TEACHER & MENTOR
Philip McDermott is an experienced teacher and coach for dancers of all ages and abilities. He has taught in his hometown of St. Johns and for the Dancing Studio in Labrador City: Both in his provincial home of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Outside of his home province he has taught at the We Dance programme at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. He has also delivered educationally based dance experiences for elderly people with mobility and memory disabilities at Senior Care Homes for seniors in Saskatoon.
McDermott has provided mentoring for several dance artists and choreographers across Canada.
Internationally, McDermott has taught at The American Contemporary Skating Festival in Boston, USA.
Currently, Phil is continuing to develop his practice during his time in Europe, and is scheduled to start teaching classes in London UK.
Kaeja Elevations Technique
Philip is a certified Kaeja instructor and has been teaching the technique since 2019.
Kaeja Elevations involve the use of fundamental skills in contemporary partnering and explores the dynamics of momentum, timing and fluid motion to allow partners to take flight.
